Privacy Notice
Effective 2026-07-18
This notice explains how TS Tech Consult (Tom Smythe) collects, uses, stores and discloses personal information in connection with this website, and your rights under the Privacy Act 2020.
Information we collect
When you submit a booking request, we collect your name, email address, and — where you choose to provide them — your phone number, address and any notes about the job, along with the date and time you have requested.
We also record the date and time your booking request was created, so we can process requests in order.
To prevent abuse of the booking form, we temporarily record the IP address a booking request came from; this is used only to limit how many requests can be made in a short period and is automatically discarded after one hour.
Once the contact form on this site is available, submitting it will similarly collect your name, contact details and message. The booking flow described above is not yet active for the public — this notice is published ahead of launch so it is in place before either flow starts collecting personal information live.
How we use your information
We use the information you provide to respond to booking and contact requests, confirm or decline bookings, schedule and carry out the work you have asked for, and to contact you about your request.
We do not use your personal information for marketing, and we do not sell it.
Your privacy and the Privacy Act 2020
We handle your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and its Information Privacy Principles (IPPs), which govern how New Zealand businesses may collect, use, store and disclose personal information.
We only collect information that is necessary for the purpose described above, and we collect it directly from you through the booking or contact form you submit.
How long we keep it
We keep booking and contact information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purpose it was collected for, including any period required to meet our accounting, tax or legal obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymised.
The IP address used for rate-limiting booking requests is kept for one hour only and is then automatically discarded.
Who we share it with
Your information is used by Tom Smythe / TS Tech Consult to fulfil your request. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
We may disclose personal information where required by law, for example in response to a lawful request from a regulatory or law-enforcement authority.
Accessing and correcting your information
Under IPP 6 and IPP 7 of the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it if it is wrong.
To make a request, contact us using the details below and we will respond within the timeframes required by the Act.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (OPC), the independent body that oversees compliance with the Privacy Act 2020, at privacy.org.nz.
